Catalogue Max Pechstein - Expression of Harmony

Magnificently illustrated publication accompanying the retrospective exhibition ‘Expression of Harmony’ of the German expressionist painter and Die Brücke member Max Pechstein (1881-1955). This publication illustrates the diversity and depth of his oeuvre. With contributions by A. Soika, E. Suter, A. Weise.

Pechstein’s dynamic and colourful compositions have had a major influence on the development of the visual language of expressionism. Much of his work reflects a search for a harmonious relationship between man and nature, inspired by Pechstein’s travels to the Prussian villages of Nidden and Leba and the Palau Islands.
