From October 5, 2024, Kunsthal Rotterdam will present the first solo exhibition in the Netherlands by British artist Thomas J Price (1981, London). With his work spanning multiple media including sculpture, performance, photography and animation, the artist consistently bends the conventions of materials, scale and presentation. Price explores central themes such as representation and the perception of power in society.

This catalogue covers two decades of his work. Thomas J Price is praised for his relatively figurative sculptures, which are not images of real people, but rather fictional 'heroes of everyday life', as he calls them. He repeatedly asks questions about the intrinsic value of the individual, the undermining of hierarchical structures and identity. Who is seen in a society? Who is portrayed? On what characteristics is our perception based?

The exhibition can be seen from October 5 2024 - February 9 2025.
